When mission creates motion

Does your mission create movement? I had a discussion a few weeks back with a leader about how having a mission creates movement. It requires intention, attention, and triple purpose. What I love about the learning for this person was they compared the assignments they have accepted that were not tied to their personal purpose, professional purpose, or agency purpose; they floundered or flopped. Triple purpose is an essential connection for a leader to foster. Want to get away from performative programming? Tie three ‘knots’ deep!!! My mission shows up in a large percentage of the things I spend my time and resources on. Coaching, mentoring, strategy sessions, facilitating, mediating, etc…It feels good in my mind, body, and spirit. When that percentage starts to get around 50%, I’m more tired and frowny (you know what I mean), and my overall wellness regimen becomes nonexistent! Tying work assignments for my staff means I have to understand what their minimum self-care looks like, as well as their personal and professional missions. I need to provide the context for the assignment of how it connects to the agency’s mission. It’s not always easy and is definitely not a fast-paced endeavor; it takes intention and attention! Again, leading with intention and attention tied to triple purpose is vital to execute a mission that moves!

Where do you leverage your intention, attention, and triple purpose as a leader?
